Location

José Luís Ferrer Bodegas would probably not have become what it is today if it were not for it lying in a social, cultural and farming setting such as the town of Binissalem. A beautiful village with aristocratic stone houses located in the very heart of Es Raiguer county, halfway between the plain and mountains, full of traditions and culture. A beautiful area at the foot of the protective and emblematic Tramuntana Sierra.

Binissalem covers 29.8 Km2 and a population numbering around 6,000 inhabitants. The town is located at an altitude of 139 metres above sea level and 22 Km from the capital, Palma de Mallorca. The rich cuisine includes such typical dishes such as ´fideus de vermar´, a lamb noodle dish, or ´arròs amb salseta´, made with boiled rice and a minced meat and liver sauce. Both dishes require an essential ingredient: good country wine.

With regards to industry and handicrafts, footwear, stone and wine are the three every-present features characterising these sectors with their consequent high and low points throughout history.

Binissalem is the birthplace of famous writers such as Llorenç Villalonga and Llorenç Moyà, authors who have known how to narrate the lives of county folk in their work.
